Our goal is that each student will be equipped to pursue God's plan for his/her life while being salt and light in a decaying and lost world.

Our job, the job of all those who are helping with the school is, first, to know your child and to love your child; and, second, to hold you to high standards.  Because when you are held to high expectations, in an environment where you are known and loved, you will succeed.

Our Challenge
Someone once said, "The best time to plant an oak tree was 25 years ago. The second best time is NOW.”

And we have the opportunity to do just that. Our biggest challenge is ensuring the continued growth of viable funding sources for education programs now and into the future.  Many partners have supported our work for over 15 years.  With their help, we’re seeing increasing numbers of students graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education.

Currently, we have many children who are without sponsors.  Helping educate a child is the most powerful way you can fight poverty. A recurring monthly gift of $50 will help provide an opportunity they simply do not have. We will put your donation with others', and, together, there will be enough to educate a child. Some invest multiples of this amount to cover full tuition ($200) or to extend coverage to more children.  To get started, click the "Donate Today" button on this webpage.

What makes Love At Work International Christian School different from other schools?

First, we’re among the top 3% of schools in Costa Rica who, in addition to the core curriculum, offer students the luxury of classes in the arts, music, physical education and religion.

Second, character development is the key to everything we’re doing.  Brain-power alone is not enough.  Kids can be bright and well educated, but not show wisdom in other ways.

We've always said we want to do the right things the right way.  We want to produce graduates who are wise, with strong Christian values and excellent academic skills who can be used by God regardless of the profession they choose.

It’s amazing when you give an opportunity to a child.
It’s not money or a hand out that they need. It’s opportunity, a hand up.  When you hand them an opportunity, they do amazing things.

The process of preparing a student for success begins in preschool.  We are committed to excellence at every level of our PreK through High School.  We operate under the assumption that every student will graduate from the School and attend university or technical college.

Our School has enjoyed tremendous success and growth since its establishment We now have graduates who are attending universities, studying architecture, science, business.  They are pioneers . . . many are the first from their neighborhoods to ever go to university.

We’re committed to establishing the highest level program in Costa Rica in the execution, not just theory, of instruments . . . starting with wind instruments saxophones, flutes, trumpets. Kids are intensively studying classical music and learning to play these new instruments. This is a radical social project in which children, often living in unthinkable circumstances, are given the chance to punch through the poverty cycle with the help of skills learned through music.

Our Musical Arts Program

"Nothing Good Ever Comes Out of Alajuelita"
There is a saying that “nothing good ever comes out of Alajuelita.” Well, we’re changing that. Music is vital in every area of life, but Alajuelita does not have a serious program focused on classical technique. Children in the school begin to read music in the first grade. We believe we can have the best Musical Arts program in the country, and it will make a HUGE difference in the lives of these kids!

Oaks of Righteousness

The Purpose of a Quality, Christian Education

"Nathan went to school today dressed as a tree.  He put on a brown outfit like a tree trunk.  But more than a tree, I see a doctor, with the help of God, of course.  He still lacks many years, but even now I visualize my son a great doctor, with God first."

Nathan’s mother, Jahaira

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.  They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.

Isaiah 61:3-4
